How and when to apply
Applying early means you have the best chance of having your funding confirmed and in place for the start of your course.
Applications for academic year 2024 to 2025
If you’re new to the Welsh Government Learning Grant Further Education (WGLG FE) for academic year 2024 to 2025, you should apply online.
You'll need to create an account or sign in if you've already created one. It should only take around 30 minutes to apply.
If you cannot apply online, you’ll need to send us a paper application form. There are guidance notes to help you fill in the form.

Applications can be accepted up to 9 months after your course start date, evidence for your application can be accepted up to 12 months after your course start date. For example, if your course started on 1 September 2024:
- You need to submit your application by 31 May 2025
- You need to provide any evidence we need by 31 August 2025
Remember to sign your WGLG FE Agreement at your college to get your money after we process your application.

Key dates
April
Applications for the new academic year become available. The earlier you make your application, the better. If you don't know if you’ll be continuing at school or going to college, that’s OK. You can still make an application, and let us know if anything changes.
9 months after your course start date
We must have received your application.
12 months after your course start date
We must have received all information and evidence.
