Applying early means you have the best chance of having your funding confirmed and in place for the start of your course.

Applications for academic year 2023 to 2024

How to apply

You should apply online by creating an account or signing in. It should only take around 30 minutes!

If you cannot apply online, you’ll need to fill out a paper form instead.

There are guidance notes to help you fill in the form.

If you don’t have access to a printer, you can pick up an application pack from your college.

Applications can be accepted up to 9 months after your course start date, evidence for your application can be accepted up to 12 months after your course start date. For example, if your course started on 1 September 2023:

  • You need to submit your application by 31 May 2024
  • You need to provide any evidence we need by 31 August 2024

Remember to sign your WGLG FE Agreement at your college to get your money after we process your application.

Applications for academic year 2022 to 2023

If you’re new to the Welsh Government Learning Grant Further Education (WGLG FE) for academic year 2022 to 2023, you’ll need to fill in the application form. There are guidance notes to help you fill in the form.

Applications can be accepted up to 9 months after your course start date, evidence for your application can be accepted up to 12 months after your course start date. For example, if your course started on 1 September 2022:

  • You need to submit your application by 31 May 2023
  • You need to provide any evidence we need by 31 August 2023

April

Applications for the new academic year become available. The earlier you make your application, the better. If you don't know if you’ll be continuing at school or going to college, that’s OK. You can still make an application, and let us know if anything changes.

9 months after your course start date

We must have received your application.

12 months after your course start date

We must have received all information and evidence.
