How and When to Apply
The quickest and simplest way to apply is online.
There are 3 simple steps to applying online:
- register with us
- log into your student finance online account and submit your application
- provide us with any necessary evidence
Although we recommend applying online, we still have paper applications available if you need one. If you require a paper application, contact us
We welcome Welsh correspondence and calls. This won't lead to a delay in our response.
Additional forms you may need
You can confirm your identity by providing your passport number on your application. If you haven't included your passport details in your application you’ll need to send in a UK Passport Details Form. Don’t send your passport to us.
If you don’t have a valid passport, you’ll need to send in your Birth or Adoption Certificate instead. You also need to complete and return this form:
- Birth/ Adoption Certificate Declaration Form 2019/20 (82KB)
- Birth/ Adoption Certificate Declaration Form 2018/19 (189KB)
This form contains two separate declarations. The Applicant's Declaration of Identity must be signed by you, the student, to confirm your identity. The Identity Confirmation Form is to verify your identity and must be completed by a person of good standing in the community who has known you for at least two years.
Please note: this person must be currently in employment, and they must supply a phone number for their place of work.
New students applying for student finance should send applications by 10 May 2019.
Continuing students need to apply by 7 June 2019.
If you apply after the deadline you’re not guaranteed to have money paid into your bank account for the start of term so we recommend you apply as soon as possible if you haven’t already.
Final cut-off date for applications
You can apply up to 9 months after the start of your academic year. If you apply after this, then there’s no guarantee you’ll receive any funding.
