Students with disabilities

You can get Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs) to assist with additional costs you might have to pay as a direct result of your disability, mental health condition (such as depression or anxiety) or specific learning difficulty (such as dyslexia or dyspraxia) while studying.

DSAs include help with the cost of:

  • A non-medical helper;
  • Items of specialist equipment;
  • Travel; and
  • Other course-related costs.

Application forms

To get DSAs you need to complete an extra form in addition to the main application. The relevant form can be downloaded from this page:

Braille or large print letters, forms and guides

If you need any of our letters, forms or guides sent to you in Braille, please email brailleandlargefonts@slc.co.uk with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your Customer Reference Number
  • What you require to be converted into Braille

If you need large print versions of any of our letters, forms or guides, please email brailleandlargefonts@slc.co.uk with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your Customer Reference Number
  • What you require to be converted into large print
  • The font size (e.g. 18pt) and the font type (e.g. Arial) that you need
