This section of the site is to provide information for parents of people over 16 who are planning to stay on at school, go to college or are already there and the funding available to them.
We at Student Finance Wales have been working hard to improve this website and have added some features and content to allow parents to help with that important decision as to whether or not you continue with studies.
If your child lives in Wales and meets a few conditions, they could get on to one of two schemes that give them funding to help with their education:
EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) or ALG (FE) (Assembly Learning Grant).
If you already know which one they may be able to get, or they are already on EMA or ALG (FE), you can use the links on the right to get the answers you are looking for.
You can send in a TCAN form as evidence for EMA or ALG.
If your child is applying for an EMA or ALG you can send in an original copy of your finalised Tax Credit Award Notification (TCAN) as evidence of your household income.
Please note - we can now accept any version of the TCAN apart from version R. We cannot accept photocopies.
